Pilar is a daughter of Northern New Mexico. She grew up in Ojo Caliente and attended Pojoaque High School, and has lived in Santa Fe for thirty-three years. Her father was a machinist and volunteer firefighter and served in the Navy. Her mom was a nurse and homemaker.
